I first learned about the Internet in 1994.  I attended a presentation at the Osmond Brothers Theatre in Branson, Missouri.   A local company had put up a web site promoting Branson as the “Live Music Show Capitol of the World”.  They showed how a person could plan their trip, locate a place to stay, buy show tickets and find out about all the things to do, entirely on the Internet.        In 1995 I moved back to my home town of Winona, MN .  I spent 8 hours a day in the Library of Winona State University surfing that part of the Internet, called the World Wide Web (WWW).
In August of 1996, I was attending a Internet Workshop and when I looked up I saw a friend of mine from college. He told me about a teaching position at Winona State in the Computer Science Department.  He asked me if I would take the position.  I said yes. In 5 days I started a four year job as an Assistant Professor, teaching general education classes in computer science. I soon developed a web site for all my classes. I interacted with my students via Email, posted class assignments and classnotes on the WWW and delivered lectures via the Web.

I started working on a masters degree in distance educations through Athabasca University in Canada. I learned how to deliver course material to students without them ever setting foot in a physical classroom.  I starting teaching classes via the WWW for Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. I had students from Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, Australia, Florida and England all in the same class. The WWW allowed me to instruct across many time zones and reach non-traditional students who could not otherwise receive an advanced degree. I earned a Masters in E-Commerce and put this to use with some of the other professors in a consulting company called Abacus Solutions LLC.
I left WSU and started teaching Web Design classes at Holmen High School I have all my classes on the WWW. You can see them at DaveKulas.Com. In May of 2001, two of my students won 2nd and 3rd Place in the statewide Wisconsin WebFair contest. In May of 2003, I was awarded 1st Place in the Teacher Division.
I volunteer my time as a Co-Webmaster of the Award Winning Lions District 5M1 website. You can also contact me at my Email address ------- dkulas@websiteclassroom.com
